Knowing the content is just half the battle in CBSE boards. Our experienced tutors reveal the answer-writing strategies that examiners actually reward.
Every year, thousands of students who know their subject well underperform in CBSE boards — not because of content gaps, but because of how they write their answers. Here is how to fix that.
1. Always Follow the Marks Allocation
A 3-mark answer needs exactly the right amount of detail — no more, no less. Examiners mark against a scheme. Write to that scheme.
2. Use Headings and Sub-Headings
Especially in Social Science and Economics, structured answers with clear headings make it easy for examiners to award marks. Write in points, not dense paragraphs.
3. Diagrams Add Marks in Science
In Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, a neat labelled diagram can earn bonus marks and clarify your written answer. Always draw the NCERT diagrams for relevant questions.
4. Attempt All Questions
In CBSE boards, partial marks are given for partial answers. Never leave a question blank. Even a rough attempt can earn 1-2 marks.
5. Time Management Is Crucial
Spend the first 10 minutes reading the entire paper. Attempt questions you know well first. Leave 15 minutes at the end for revision.
